Behold!!! My triumphant return to Multi-- wait... didn't I do this a month ago...?

Sigh... yes, yes, I'm still trying to go back to regularly posting in Multiply. Its just that Facebook has been irritatingly addicting lately. hehehe

Anyway, I decided to try out Multiply's photo importing function and its pretty good. Lightning fast and it keeps each photo's caption. Sweet.

So, for your perusal, my recent trip to Egypt with the President of the Philippines.

Enjoy!

Instead of surrounding myself with flowers and chocolates and hearts and wine on Valentine's Day this year, I decided to join a couple of friends (Caesar, Stephen, Barry) and surround myself with concrete and steel and hard hats and mud for Habitat for Humanity.

This 14 February 2009 build was in Pinagbuhatan, Pasig.

As expected, we were all smiles before, during, and after the event. We met a few new friends (Gayette, Tim, Stanely, Janina, et. al.) and even got to witness volunteers from Candy Mag, IS, a QTV show, and Chris Tiu maximize being in a construction site for media mileage. hahaha

Evil snipe aside, I do hope more people volunteer for programs such as these. This is our Nation, people. Let's all work towards something positive together.

Anarchs and Alastors

AFTERMATH

This is a follow-up blog to this entry a few months ago.

After four months of play, the results are all in for the Anarchs and Alastors Storyline for Vampire: the Eternal Struggle. In the end, the reckless Anarchs won the most number of Tournaments and was declared the winning faction. Key vampires include the Nosferatu Toby, and the Ventrue Justicar and Alastor Lucinde. However it was the Sabbat Black Hand Seraph Yazid Tamari, through his Machiavellian undertakings, who was cited as the most critical minion by the most number of players.

Click here for the individual results and complete standings of the tournament.

Read along for an excerpt of the Anarchs and Alastors Aftermath Story. Full version here.

**********************************

Yvette had never fit in anywhere in her life, and even in unlife, her sire called her "hopeless." She often wondered why she'd been Embraced. Her hair was wiry, her body scraggly, she wasn't filled with the ethereal beauty that graced most of the clan. She was feeling very sorry for herself, banging about in the trunk of a car as the anarch gang drove their way to Montreal.

They brought her out just before the border. A young girl with a blue mohawk, a ripped mesh shirt and black leather gloves dragged her up by the throat.

"She's a liability."

Yvette looked into the young girl's eyes over the tops of her mirrored glasses and froze. They were old eyes, very old, filled with power.

"No, Lucy." it was Germaine's voice.

Count Germaine took Yvette by the hair, turning her head to face him. "This one lives...for now." He really was very pretty when he wasn't twisting broken bones. Yvette felt herself drawn to him, almost like she was drawn to beauty, only this was more compelling, like when her sire...

Yvette's stomach twisted in anger. He was using the same power her sire had used to make her like him. Despite this knowledge, it was still working.

He brought her ear to his lips. "You're Lucy's new girlfriend. You're coming with us to go see a band play in Montreal. You forgot your passport at home  but you asked your mom to fax it in to the border guards and she did. Got it?"

Yvette nodded.

"Come on... girlfriend." The way she said it made Yvette shudder. Germaine was the asshole that broke her arm, but Lucy filled her with stark terror.

None of them had passports or ID, but all ID magically appeared electronically when they crossed the border. They didn't even have to Dominate the guards, although Yvette suspected Germaine's extremely likable personality didn't hurt. Five carloads of Kindred slid from one country to the other without so much as a confused flunky left behind. Yvette was impressed. They were obviously organized.

About half an hour after they crossed the border, a semi-trailer cut them off, dragging its "Danger - Flammable" load behind it across the highway. Germaine slammed on the breaks and the car skid sideways. The car behind them clipped their rear fender and careened into the tanker. The explosion rocked them as their car rolled into the ditch.

Germaine was out in a moment, grappling with someone. Lucy punched Yvette and opened the glove compartment, pulling out a wooden stake. She disappeared and the passenger door opened. Stunned, Yvette lay for a moment in the overturned car before scrambling through the shattered windshield.

Germaine was crouched in the middle of four vampires. One took a swing at him and Germaine moved away, the claws of his aggressor ripping the back of his t-shirt. Another jumped while Germaine caught hold of a third, pulling the vampire in front of him and then twirling, leaving the two of them to collide. The fourth swung what looked like a shovel. Germaine stepped into the swing and twisted, his body blurring as he pulled his opponent in toward him. Germaine's elbow smashed into the Kindred's face as he tore the improvised weapon from his fingers and spun yet again to swing it like a baseball bat at the first vampire.

With a metallic twang the edge of the shovel took off the first vampire's head. The thick rippling ribbon of blood flowing out of the stump looked black in the fire and moonlight. The dull thunk of first the body, then the head hitting the ground was an eerie counterpoint to the fire and the yelling. Yvette stood, open mouthed as a Gangrel-like individual sent furry claws at the charismatic man. He took a step back and sucked in his gut. The claws caught and ripped off the rest of his shirt. Germaine punched through the open mouth of the snarling beast and his fist kept going through the back of its skull. The vampire turned to ash before her eyes.

A couple of his downed opponents began to run away. Germaine turned, arms outstretched, shovel in one hand, blood coating the other.

"Is that all you've got?" he shouted, laughing.

His body shuddered with multiple quick impacts. Red holes appeared in the muscles of his back, dripping blood to obscure his swirling tattoos. He sunk to his knees.

"No." Yvette whispered. It was like watching a god die. Then her eyes widened as the holes sealed themselves.

Germaine ran past Yvette so fast she could barely see him, but then a dark shadow stepped in front of him in the moonlight and she saw Germaine fall. Two of the other gang members ran after him but were riddled with bullets. Yvette ducked and rolled as more bullets shattered what was left of the glass on the upside down car. Not knowing why, she made her way to where she had seen the leader go down.

She found him under some bushes, a stake through his heart. She stopped a moment. He was powerful and she could kill him. She could drink and be more than what she was. Yvette stared at the patterns on his skin in the moonlight and whimpered. He was so beautiful. Watching him fight had been a rush like none she'd ever felt. He'd kept her alive when Lucy wanted to kill her. Maybe he saw some worth in her, something her sire no longer saw.

Yvette reached forward and pulled out the stake.

She heard a scream of rage and felt a bullet knock her down.

Yvette fell facing the clearing. Too weak to move, she saw two more enemy vampires run toward her in the light of the fire from the tanker. The closest stopped and started screaming. His blood began pouring out of him, through his eyes, his ears, his mouth. He began clawing at his own flesh. Yvette saw something under his skin bubbling as though his blood were boiling. He fell and began to flop about like a dead fish, blood seeping through his skin.

A dark shadow shimmered between of her and the other Kindred. Yvette saw the flickering of steel and the vampire jerking about before the blur moved on and pieces of the Kindred fell with sickening plops on to the ground as the diced body fell apart before turning into little lumps of ash. Behind the body Yvette could see Lucy pointing a gun at the shadow, then she passed out.

She woke once again in the trunk of a car. Blood flowed down her throat. She sucked greedily at the wrist in her mouth and sobbed when it was taken away.

"That's all you get for now little snipe." Germaine said, rubbing his wrist and healing it.

He extended his hand to pull her out of the trunk and ruffled her hair when she stood. "Now we're even." he mumbled into her ear and gave her a gentle push toward the others.

They were in a field. Several members of the gang were clustered around a large lump in the dark grass. One of them looked up at her, his mouth bloody.

"Moo." He wriggled his eyebrows at her and went back to drinking.

Yvette moved quickly to the spare place on the cow and sunk in her teeth.

Lucy was nowhere to be found.

"You're stuck with us now, snipe." a second one commented. "That was Sabbat that attacked us, but the stake, that's a cammi style thing, the sort of thing used when someone wants to claim a bounty, like the one on bossman's head."

Yvette looked up, shocked.

"Yep. Looks like you just got your ass excommunicated."

Her chest clenched.

"Welcome to the cult, little girl."

Jan Pieterzoon forced himself not to fidget in front of Lucinde. Traces of blue hair dye remained but she looked almost like her usual suit-clad self, not at all like the mesh covered punk he'd seen when he'd originally found her the night before.

"So you thought it was a good idea to deliberately leak information to the Sabbat about the whereabouts of an anathema."

"Yes, it seemed a prudent use of resources at the time. Two birds with one stone, so to speak."

"Under whose authority?"

"It was a special request from Horatio Ballard. The cult was growing overly strong and we wanted to quash it without having it directly traced back to the Camarilla. After having taken such a large force from the Quebec Chantry to Montreal to deal with Helena-"

"Something you failed to do."

"Yes, due to unforeseen circumstances which are in my report."

Lucinde's face was youthful, almost child like, but her eyes... Jan remembered once being told that if faced by an angry gorilla, one should take care not to look it in the eye, lest it feel challenged and take off your head. That was how he felt now, avoiding the eyes of his Justicar.

"You will find a great deal of information about the cult and its workings in *my* report, Jan, including its connection with Helena. This matter is now your top priority."

Jan nodded.

"You will put all of your available resources to cleaning up after your mistake. I want heads on a platter. If I do not get them, I'll settle for yours."

It's 3:09 early Monday morning. I should be sleeping soundly by now.

But noooo...

I'm wide awake because the stupid building right next to mine decided to catch itself on FIRE.

So here I am, tired of the sirens, hoping Multiply and / or Facebook can make me sleepy again.

No such luck.

See you in the 'morrow!

My building buddies and I met up once again last 1 December 2008 to help celebrate Ino's birthday and the opening of his Viktor Jeans shop in Greenbelt 5. Booze flowed freely and inhibitions flowed right along with it. Struck an easy conversation with Sharon, one of Ino's long-time friends. She gave the skinny on who were there at the party-- from celebrities and models, architects and designers, to high school friends of the birthday boy.

We had a fun time goofing in front of the camera and checking out the store. All in all a fun night to hang out with new friends. Thanks for the invite Ino!

Walk on the Child's Side 2008
A walk and run for the benefit of UNICEF
All funds raised will be used to support UNICEF programs for children in the Philippines

Joined my first ever run last 23 November 2008 through the invitation of my friend Randy.

I went with Caesar and (my new friend!) Gigi. They both did the 10k run while I decided to do the 5k event. I ended up finishing it at 0:36:00, with a 0:07:12 min/km pace.

We went to Paul Calvin's Deli after the race to grab some yummy buffet breakfast. We met Jay, one of the owners, an avid runner who belonged to the same running group as my two companions (Happy Feet).

I had such a blast that I think I promised to Caesar and Gigi that I'd join them in another run next week!

Oh nose!

Joined a build for Habitat for Humanity last 15 November 2008 in Camarin, Caloocan. This was an initiative of Victory Christian Fellowship (VCF) Fort.

Though it was fulfilling enough to know that you have helped your fellow man, it was extra satisfying to be able to lay down foundations for new friendships: Barry, Eli, and Ino it was great meeting and working with you guys! Steven, thank you for the very generous invitation. I really appreciate it.

See you again soon, guys!

Spent the weekend exploring Pagudpud and its surrounding towns-- each with its own unique attraction. Parked ourselves at beautiful Saud beach and lazily planned our next course of action.

We eventually were able to check out the Windmill field in Bangui, the Kapurpurawan White Rock Formation, Cape Bojeador Lighthouse, Kabigan Falls, Patapat Viaduct, Timangtang Rock, Bantay Abot Caves, and the Blue Lagoon! This excursion took the whole day, and guess what, our mode of transpo was the humble trike! I don't think anyone of us have ridden a trike for that long in our entire lives! The Tale of Fantasy Painters for 2008-2009 over at Warseer has just opened. It is basically an online thread where people commit to painting a 2000-point Army for Warhammer Fantasy over a 12-month period. It serves as a fun place to display and share your models as well as a highly motivational forum where you can get lots of tips on how to improve your painting. This year, I signed-up to paint 2000 points of Lizardmen. Here is my Month 1 entry:

LIZARDMEN

THIS MONTHS PAINTING:

UNIT: 2 Salamander Hunting Packs, 1 Jungle Swarm

BACKGROUND/THEME: Still working on it. They live near the swamps, that much I can tell.

BUILD/CONVERSION: Straight out of the box. Swarms have an added tablet (and lizard) from Tenehuain's base.

PAINTING: Bodies: Scorched Brown, Bronzed Flesh, Fortress Grey, Skull White. Scales: Bronzed Flesh, Sunburst Yellow, brown wash.

BASING: Glued Cork and sand prior to basecoating. Left a few patches of bare base for water effects. Added plastic plants and clumps of green flock and static grass. Base: Scorched Brown, Bronzed Flesh, brown wash. Water: Dark Angels Green, glue+Dark Angels Green+Scorched Brown.

STILL TO DO: These guys are finished.

HIGHS: Start of a new ToFP! First time trying out new basing techniques (thanks Monsterzonk for the inspiration!)

LOWS: My crazy obsession of not posting anything until it is completely finished!!

POINTS: 130 (Salamander Hunting Packs) + 60 (Jungle Swarm) = 190pts.

Charge of the Lizards!

Bye, bye! Y'all come back, now, y'hear?

I've been doing a little V:tES "back-issue" catching up the past few months, ever since I found out that the next set to be released would feature my favorite Sect in the game-- the Camarilla. I bought up a few boxes of V:tES 3rd Edition, a box of Blood Shadowed Court, and a box of Twilight Rebellion. Now, guess what just arrived in the mail yesterday?

A couple of boxes of Kindred Most Wanted! Yay! This is an old set from early 2005 which focused on the Red List-- the most depraved and monstrous individuals in Vampiric society.

So, true geek that I am, I spent my Friday evening alone, giddily opening packs (ooh-ing and ahh-ing along the way) and updating my checklist. After finishing, I was still very much on a V:tES high that I couldn't sleep. I remembered this website where you could create your own customized Vampire cards so I decided to make a V:tES version of myself and that is exactly what I did.

David the Toreador, Inconnu.

The Vampires of Clan Toreador typically have an obsession with anything artistic, exquisite or (superficially) beautiful. Their attraction to beauty is so strong that they have to force themselves not to stop at the sight of an aesthetically appealing work.

Their main disciplines are Auspex (enhanced senses), Celerity (superhuman speed), and Presence (superhuman charisma).

I added Obfuscate (ability to vanish) as an out-of-clan discipline to fit better my idea that David is an Inconnu-- an elder Methuselah who wished to withdraw from Kindred politics. His special ability also tried to reflect the impact of being Inconnu in the game.

I also did another one:

Chun Li the Brujah.

hahahaha
There's a long story how I found this picture. Long enough for another blog entry actually. So stay tuned for that.

(Fellow Methuselahs, I'd love to hear feedback on what you think of the cards. I tried to give them as much personality as possible without overpowering them. Do you think they'll see much play if they're published?)

Vampire: the Eternal Struggle
2008 Storyline Event

Anarchs and Alastors

PROLOUGE

"Jan. You honor me. How good of you to come."

Horatio Ballard made a half-hearted attempt to lift himself out of his chair as Jan Pieterzoon entered the drawing room. Jan crossed the room quickly and shook his hand. The corpulent Ventrue invited Jan to join him in an adjacent high-backed leather chair.

"A pleasure. Good seeing you again, Horatio."

Horatio motioned for a nearby servant to bring a beverage for his guest. Jan immediately signaled that he appreciated the offer, but politely declined the unfamiliar vitae. This greeting ritual was common in their clan.

"And how is our fine friend the Reverend doing?" Horatio began.

"He's as delusional and dangerous as ever. You've seen the reports."

"I have spent quite a bit of time poring over them, yes. So, you don't think there is anything to these prophecies of his?"

Jan looked at him quizzically, concealing his irritation. "Do I think the Lord Almighty speaks to us through a shaggy thin-blood from Kentucky? No. He's convincing enough to be very dangerous. But he's deranged. He's a fraud, like all the charlatans before him. Fortunately, we control him now."

"Of course. Very good. Yes. Yes, I'm sure you're correct." They regarded each other. Horatio took a moment to sip from his glass and began again, seeking another conversational tack. "I invited you here because there is another matter which I felt needed to be brought to your attention. Are you familiar with the activities of the anarch gang that has been causing so much trouble lately?"

"Germain's group? I've heard about them, a bunch of anarchs, setting cars on fire and making noise. Not exactly part of my portfolio."

"No? One of our primogen, Critias, has impressed upon me the gravity of this situation. I hope you'll take a look at the information I've gathered together." Horatio took a thick leather folder and slid it across the table. He watched with interest for several minutes as Jan flipped through the pages, reading over reports and press clippings, examining photographs.

"Strange. Since when did anarchs get religion?"

"I don't know. Would you agree that this is a serious problem?"

"Yes. Once rumors like this get started, they spread like wildfire. This one already seems to be burning out of control. Anyone made a serious attempt to stop them?"

"Some of our associates tried, in Philadelphia. Two Kindred were destroyed, and four more are still in torpor. There were also three traitors who went anarch and left town with the gang. We need this dealt with, I fear. Quickly and quietly, before things get even further out of hand. I know you have friends in high places, and I hope you'll be willing to seek their intercession on our behalf."

"I'll do what I can." Jan's gaze had not left the bundle of documents on the table while he spoke. "Sightings in L.A, San Diego, Atlanta, Louisville, Baltimore. They're on the move…"
"Not surprisingly, yes. They've made enough enemies to feel a need to stay on the run. Bloodhunts have been called, and there's been some saber-rattling talk about the Red List. They must know we're coming for them."

Jan considered this, and then shook his head slowly. "No. They're not running. Germain's looking for something. Or someone…"

******

Yvette crashed into the side of the car, shattering the window, the impact caving in the side panel. She crumpled away from the parked vehicle and fell to the pavement, pain screaming up her spine. The loud honking of the car alarm further disoriented her until someone silenced it with several ringing blows from a steel pipe.

Rough hands grabbed her by the shoulder and pulled the young Toreador to her feet. Yvette looked into the face of the gang leader, Count Germain.

"Helena. Where is she?"

Yvette felt the Beast rising within her, urging her to lash out. She gritted her teeth and fought against the pain to push it back. This was not a fight she could win if she lost her self-control.

"No idea what you're talking about."

"Really? Helena. Helen of Troy. Priestess of Narcise. I hear she's quite memorable."

Gemain's hands were already clamped on her shoulder and elbow. They twisted until her left humerus broke with a loud snap. Yvette gasped at the rushing waves of agony as the Brujah worked the bone fragments back and forth.

"Montreal! I heard Helena left for Montreal. Two or three weeks ago."

"That's better."

As Germain released her arm, Yvette shifted it back into alignment and directed her vitae to the injury. She scanned the small crowd of Kindred that surrounded her, surprised by their varied appearances. A few of them bore the obligatory Brujah leathers and piercings, but there were also a few Kindred wearing business suits, some in party dresses, and even a stately pair of women in evening gowns.

"You guys are Menele's goons? You'll never find Helena. She'll know you're coming from miles away."

"We aren't anyone's goons. We want to find Helena because we want to survive. And guess what? You're in luck, because you get to come with us."

*******

Yazid Tamari watched through the office window, a pair of binoculars in his hands. The portly Seraph observed in utter stillness as Germain tossed the young Toreador into the back of a black SUV, his only motion the movement of his head as he visually tracked his targets. He lowered the field glasses after counting the anarchs as they climbed onto their motorcycles and into the backs of their trucks.

A whispered voice drifted from the darkness next to him. "Now?"

"No. Not yet."

"When?"

"Soon. Very soon."

*******

Oooh... goosebumps!

Quick background: my favorite collectible card game, Vampire: the Eternal Struggle (V:tES), regularly holds Storyline Tournaments to determine its canon. It started in 2002 with "The Baltimore Storyline" and "The Eye of Hazimel". It was followed by "Lambach's Legion" in 2003 and "Prophesies of Gehenna" and "Infernal Plague" in 2004. The plague returned in 2005 with "Infernal Plague: Return of Nergal". In 2006 players first saw the deranged Reverend Adams in "
Reverend Adams & the Millennium Cultist" storyline. There was no "official storyline" in 2007, although there were a lot of sanctioned create-your-own-events. (for in depth discussion of these storylines, including winning clans and rewards, click here.)

This year, the good people at White Wolf (www.white-wolf.com) has decided to pit the rabble against the royalty-- the anarchs versus the alastors!
I'm personally rooting for the alastors to win! Hopefully, we'll get a powerful or fun (even better!) card when the next expansion gets released late this year!

Start waking from torpor my fellow methuselahs... it's time to join the eternal struggle once again!

I think weather was horrible that day so Mayenne and I decided to do an indoor activity for the afternoon. We ended up at Madame Tussauds in Times Square, the queue took a while as a lot of people seemed to have the same idea. That put me in a crabby mood which explains why I didn't want to pose with the dummies.

Anyway, looking at these pictures, who's your pick for the most realistic dummy?
